Start with the essentials

Use a strong device lock and unique passwords where supported. A SIM PIN is an additional measure, not a substitute for device and bank security. Check your operator’s instructions before enabling it; repeated wrong attempts can lock the SIM.

What you can do

  1. Keep your device updated and install banking apps only from official stores.
  2. Store your bank’s official lost-device instructions somewhere other than the phone.
  3. After a loss, contact the operator and bank promptly to secure the SIM and affected services.

Keep in mind

Never share an OTP or recovery code with a caller claiming to help recover the phone.
