Start with the essentials

Use a reliable pressure gauge and the pressures specified for the motorcycle and load. Inspect tread, sidewalls, valves and any unusual wear. A puncture kit is not a permanent answer for every type of damage.

What you can do

  1. Check pressure when tyres are cold and investigate repeated pressure loss.
  2. Ask a tyre specialist whether a puncture is safely repairable; sidewall damage needs particular care.
  3. Have wobble, vibration or uneven wear assessed rather than adjusting parts by guesswork.

Keep in mind

Tyre life varies with use and condition. No maintenance routine can guarantee a fixed number of extra kilometres.
